A Cable Bus Adventure in Mexico City: From Fear to Fabulous Views!!

I have a confession: I’m terrified of heights. So, naturally, when I found myself in Mexico City (or as the locals lovingly call it, DF), I did what any sensible person afraid of heights would do—I decided to ride the Cablebús. Because who wouldn’t want to dangle hundreds of feet in the air in a metal box? Spoiler alert: I almost chickened out, but I’m so glad I didn’t!
Picture this: I’m standing at the base of the Cablebús station, staring up at the tiny cabins gliding across the sky like serene little birds. My heart? Not so serene. More like a frantic pigeon trying to escape the city. But for just 37 cents (yes, you read that right—0.37 US dollars), how could I resist the chance to conquer my fear and score a bird’s-eye view of one of the most vibrant cities in the world?
Getting into the cabin, I may have squeezed my eyes shut and muttered a quick prayer (or ten). But once we were up there, soaring above the bustling streets, something magical happened. The city spread out beneath me, and I realized—between gasps of “OMG, don’t look down!”—that this was absolutely breathtaking. The rooftops, the greenery, the endless expanse of Mexico City—it was like seeing the city from the perspective of a very adventurous bird. Or, in my case, a very brave, slightly shaky tourist.
By the time we reached the end of the line, I was grinning like a fool and already planning my next ride. Who knew that for less than the cost of a pack of gum, I’d get the thrill of a lifetime and some seriously stunning views? So, if you find yourself in DF and you’re up for a little adventure (and maybe a few heart palpitations), don’t skip the Cablebús. Trust me, it’s worth every peso—and every squeal......Travel Corazon...Z
